Lash Extensions Faq’s

Am I a good Candidate for Eye Lash Extensions?

There are many reasons that may not make you a good candidate for Lash extensions.

  • Do you have a Thyroid condition that causes you to lose your hair too quickly
  • Do you have enough lashes? Long enough lashes?
  • Do you have eye allergies, glaucoma, blepharitis or other health/eye issues
  • Do you find it difficult to lie still for 60 – 120 minutes at a time?
  • Pregnant ladies do you find it difficult to lie on your back?
  • Are you healing from surgery? It is recommended if you have had surgery that you wait to get Lash Extensions until you are fully healed.

Please ensure that if you answer yes to any of the questions above you talk to your Lash Specialist before booking your appointment.

Do Eye Lash Extensions cause Lash Damage?

If lash extension are done correctly they can be less damaging than mascara (less bacteria, weight, removal, eye tugging and rubbing etc.) Proper at home maintenance is important to reduce any chance of lash damage.

How long do Lash Extensions take?

A good, full set of lashes when done by a Professional Lash Specialist takes approximately

  • 2 – 2.5 hours for Classic
  • 2.5 – 3 hours for Hybrid
  • 3 – 3.5 hours for Volume

The Length of time it takes to lash you depends on how many natural lashes you have.

How Often do I need to come back for a fill?

Did you know our Lashes have a Life cycle? Our natural lashes shed about every 6-7 weeks and on average {which equals approximately 3-5 lashes lost each day},
The diagram shows our three-lash cycle’s, and how it returns to Anagen. So we are continuously growing and losing lashes during a life cycle.

  • Stage 1: Anagen – which would be our newly created lash
  • Stage 2: Catagen – been here for a while but not yet matured.
  • Stage 3: Telogen – Our matured lash which is at its resting stage.

It is recommended that you return for a lash fill around the 2-3-week mark, when you still have about 45% of the lash extensions left. Many return around 2 weeks to maintain a consistent and fuller lash look.

What is the difference between Classic, Hybrid & Volume Lash Extensions

Classic Lashes:

1 Extension to 1 Natural Lash

Classic lashes are one extension applied to one natural lash only, therefore if you only have 50 suitable natural lashes per eye, then you will only achieve a look of 50 eyelash extensions, whereas if you have 100 natural lashes per eye then you will achieve a look of 100 extensions per eye.

How many eyelashes do we typically have?  The number of eyelashes on each lid range widely as the top eyelid usually accommodates approximately 150 to 200 individual hairs, while the bottom eyelid may have somewhere between 75 – 100.

Volume & Mega Volume Lashes:

Volume Lashes: 2-5 extensions to 1 Natural Lash

Mega Volume: 6-16 Extensions per natural lash.

Volume is the use of multiple ultra fine extensions, that are hand created at the time of application by the therapist using their specially designed tweezers. The therapist skilfully creates bouquets of eyelash extensions that are then placed onto the natural lash in a fanned effect, to create extra fluff, coverage and fullness than cannot be created with classic extensions. Although we use multiple extensions, the fan is still placed onto one individually isolated natural lash in a method that encases the natural lash, and results in great retention with zero damage.

Hybrid (Mixed) Lashes:

Is a technique that requires the use of both Classic & Volume Lash techniques.

Lash Lift & Tint Faq’s

Would I make a good Lash Lift Candidate?

If your lashes are shorter that 8mm, then you likely would not see significant results, if any. It is recommended that you schedule a consultation to ensure your lashes are long enough to try this service. This would also be a good time to do a test patch.

Starting a Lash Growth Serum to assist with growing your lashes to a longer, stronger length for a few weeks before getting a Lash Lift & Tint may be beneficial if you have shorter lashes.

How long does lash lift last and how often do I need to come back?

Once the initial application is finished, the client will notice immediate results. Your lash lift & Tint results will last approximately 6-8 weeks. At about the 8 week mark is when you will want to return for another service.

Does it hurt?

Whitening will not hurt your teeth. If you already have sensitive teeth this will not enhance that sensitivity. I use medicine to coat and protect teeth after the appointment to curb post-treatment sensitivity (stain- x pen). I worked very hard in research to use a product that is both safe and gentle on your teeth.

I have crowns/veneers/fillings on my front teeth, can I whiten?

In a word, yes! Although restorations cannot be whitened like natural teeth they do accumulate surface stain that can be removed by whitening. Over time your natural teeth surrounding the restorations will darken in shade, using this service will give the teeth a cohesive appearance, this is called a restoration match apointment.
